Um…what is copy?

Before we dive into our mini-course together where I’ll be walking you through new skills as a copywriter, we should first start at the beginning….what exactly is copy?

In the realm of writing, “copy” refers specifically to text created with the primary goal of promoting or selling a product, service, or idea.

Unlike other forms of content that are designed to inform or entertain — like novels, screenplays, or a textbook — sales copy is strategically crafted to persuade the reader to take a specific action, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or downloading a free resource.

Now, before you get a case of the icks, keep in mind that if we want to have a successful business, we need to develop confidence in sales.  As a dietitian practicing ethically, you should not worry about recommending the right services to the right people.

Instead, think of copywriting as a tool to connect with your audience on a deeper level, build trust, and ultimately invite them to become clients. Throughout this course, we will focus on honing your ability to write compelling copy that resonates with and engages your readers.
