Before You Start: What You May Need
Before we dig into the exciting discounts available, there are a couple of things you might need to have ready. These will help companies verify your status as a registered dietitian or healthcare professional, ensuring you’re eligible for their exclusive offers.
- An NPI Number
The National Provider Identifier (NPI) number is a unique 10-digit identification number used in the healthcare system. While the intended use of an NPI number has to do with HIPAA and secure billing, many companies use this as a way of confirming your credentials as a healthcare professional.
If you don’t already have an NPI number, you can visit the CMS website to register or find more information about obtaining one. (BTW – getting an NPI number is free.)
P.S. Did you know that our NPI numbers also impact our potential income? For insurance companies and Medicare to expand coverage, they first check that there are enough healthcare workers to provide that service. ID.Me is a verified identity network that simplifies the process of proving eligibility for discounts and perks. It is widely recognized by companies offering healthcare professional discounts.
