The Best Preceptor Gifts for Dietitians and Healthcare Professionals

As we complete our training to become dietitians, we have the opportunity and privilege to work with some pretty amazing preceptors.

How can you thank them? I have a few ideas for preceptor gifts that might just be the perfect way to say thank you.

A thank you note

The most important thing that you can do to express your gratitude is to, well, say it!

A thoughtful thank you card is something that your preceptor will treasure for years to come. I have a few thank you cards that I’ve received from past students and interns and plan to keep ‘em forever!

Here is one cute option for thank-you notes.

Snack Bag

What is the difference between a happy preceptor and a grumpy one?

Snacks!

This is the CUTEST bag you can get for your preceptor to keep all of their favorite snacks in their desk drawer.

Bombas Socks

I’ll have to admit something here: I’ve become a bit of a sock snob. I’ve transitioned to 100% Bombas socks and I’m not lookin’ back!

Not only are Bombas socks super high quality, they also have amazing customer service AND they donate lots of socks to people in need.

A coloring book

Whenever your preceptor loves to curl up with a coloring book at the end of a long day or uses it to take a mini screen break over her lunch break, a coloring book is a great gift.

P.S. Don’t forget the colored pencils!

An apron

There are so many cute and fun aprons available these days!

New plants

Whether it is a real live plant or a realistic fake, a plant can really make an office space feel more homey!

Office Supplies

I love fresh office supplies – how about you?

Badge holder

A nutrition-themed badge holder is perfect for your next preceptor gift!

Coffee

What is your preceptor’s morning ritual? Whether it is a steaming hot cup of chai or a large iced coffee, consider snagging them a gift card to their favorite coffee shop.

That’s a wrap!

It is important to express your gratitude for the time and effort your preceptor spent with you. While your gift does not need to be expensive, be sure to write down what you’re thankful for.
